What are residential proxies?

Residential proxies are proxy servers that use IP addresses provided by internet service providers (ISPs) and/or associated with real user devices—laptops, smartphones, etc. This allows you to change your apparent geolocation to test websites and services from different regions.

Resident proxies have many advantages and areas of application, such as:

  • Checking the display of websites and advertising from different regions (geo-testing).
  • Web scraping and collection of publicly available data from open sources.
  • Monitoring prices, product range, and search results.
  • Conducting marketing research and competitor analysis.
  • Verification of advertising campaigns (ad verification) in different geos.

Unlike server proxies, residential proxies are considered more reliable due to their similarity to regular user traffic, which reduces the number of false positives for website security systems. Proxyma’s pool includes IP addresses from thousands of locations worldwide, allowing you to flexibly select the right region and provider for your specific needs.

How to use static proxies?

Using static proxies is quite simple and can be reduced to the following steps:

  1. Choosing a Proxy Plan: Start by choosing a static proxy plan that suits your needs.
  2. Getting access: After registering on the platform and paying for the selected plan, you gain access to static proxies. You are provided with IP addresses and ports to use according to your needs.
  3. Configuring your software: Once you have access to static proxies, it’s time to integrate them into your applications or devices you plan to use with the proxy. In most software interfaces, you only need to specify the proxy server’s IP address and port.
  4. Testing a successful connection: Check whether your traffic is passing through static proxies. To do this, run several queries and ensure that the IP address substitution is working correctly.
  5. Monitoring proxy stability: After initial proxy setup, remember to monitor its operation periodically. Make sure the proxy is stable and doesn’t require any additional setup.

If you’ve followed all these steps, your first time using a static proxy will be painless, and you can safely use it to achieve your goals.

How many IP addresses will be available to me?

By purchasing a plan, you gain access to over 35 million IP addresses collected legally and ethically from all over the world. It’s important to note that the availability of IP addresses at any given time is affected by factors such as time of day and proxy list settings.

Can I change my IP address using a link?

You can change the IP by regenerating the proxy settings or by modifying the relevant available parameters in the proxy link.

What to do if IP addresses change quickly/rotate frequently?

If your IP address changes frequently while connected to the proxy, it means you have purchased a plan from the “Dynamic Residential Proxy” range. If your tasks require a permanent (static) IP address, we recommend switching to a plan from the “Static Residential Proxy” range. Alternatively, you can adjust the rotation settings in the proxy generator; the default duration might be sufficient for your needs.

How reliable are your proxies?

Proxyma is a residential proxy platform for web scraping, digital marketing, SEO monitoring, ad testing, and public data collection.

Residential proxies use IP addresses that actually belong to real devices with internet access. This makes the traffic passing through them resemble a standard user connection, thereby improving connection stability when interacting with websites that employ geo-restrictions or protections against automated requests.

Proxyma operates in accordance with the User Agreement and the Privacy Policy and does not share user data with third parties, except as provided by law.

Please note: the user is responsible for ensuring that the use of the proxy complies with the terms of use of specific websites and services, as well as applicable laws.

How does IP list authorization work?

When creating a list of dynamic residential proxies, two authorization options are available for users: by login and password or by a list of IP addresses specified in the corresponding field when creating the proxy list. When selecting the “IP list” authorization method, simply connect to the proxy using the previously specified list of IP addresses. However, users can also use the proxy using a login and password from devices with different IP addresses.

Important condition!

Each IP address added to the whitelist can only be specified once. To reuse this IP address when creating a proxy list, you must delete the previously created proxy list in which this IP address was added to the whitelist.

What are residential proxies?

Residential proxies are proxy servers that use IP addresses provided by internet service providers (ISPs) and/or are located on real (residential) devices, such as laptops, desktop computers, smartphones, and so on. They allow users to hide their real IP address and change their geolocation.

Resident proxies have many advantages and areas of application, such as:

  • Ensuring user anonymity online and protecting them from tracking.
  • Bypass geographic restrictions and access blocked resources and content.
  • Improving web scraping and anonymous collection of publicly available data from open sources.
  • Manage multiple social media accounts or bots without arousing suspicion or risking de-anonymization.
  • Launching various advertising campaigns.

Unlike server proxies, residential proxies are considered more reliable and less vulnerable to tracking. The residential proxy market offers a large number of IP addresses in thousands of locations worldwide, making them impossible to block. Another advantage of residential proxies is that they can have multiple IP addresses at once, allowing for the automatic deployment of hundreds of connections from a single location.

This is especially useful for web scraping tasks, testing geo-sensitive content and advertising monitoring, where correctly simulating normal user traffic is important.

Key technical features:

  1. Resident and ISP IP addresses—match the characteristics of typical user connections, which reduces the number of false positives from website security systems.
  2. HTTPS and SOCKS5 support — ensures traffic encryption and protection of transmitted data.
  3. Our data storage policy is described in our Privacy Policy.
Can I test the proxy before purchasing it?

Yes, you can test the proxy on the website before purchasing. Simply write to support and explain why you want to use it.

There are plans with a trial period, which allows you to evaluate the quality of services without having to pay in full upfront.

You can also get resident proxies with limited traffic for a small fee, which allows you to test their performance and functionality.

How quickly will I receive the proxy after payment?

After paying for the proxies, you will get access to them almost instantly. Usually, the process takes only a few minutes, as the automated system processes the order and provides you with the necessary data to connect to the proxies.

If there are any delays, they may be related to payment verification, but in most cases, proxies become available immediately after the transaction is completed.

Can I use the proxy immediately after purchase?

Yes, you can use the proxy immediately after purchase. Usually, after completing the payment, you get access to proxy servers that can be used immediately. In the case of IP address authentication, you may first need to set up a whitelist of IP addresses from which you plan to use the proxy. If login and password authentication is used, you simply need to enter the credentials you received to gain access.

In what format do you issue proxies?

Proxies on the service are usually issued in the following format:

IP
— a standard format that includes an IP address and port.

  • IP:Port:Username
    — if username and password authentication is used. This format includes the IP address, port, username, and password.
  • IP
    — if IP address authentication is used (no need to enter a username and password).

This format is suitable for most programs and tools that work with proxy servers. If you have specific format requirements, it is recommended that you clarify them before purchasing a proxy.

What type of proxy authentication is available on your service?

Two types of authentication are available:

  1. Username and password authentication: This method requires the user to enter a username and password to access the proxy. This information is specified in the HTTP Proxy-Authentication header when sending a request. This is the most commonly used method for resident proxies.
  2. IP address authentication: This method allows users to authenticate based on their IP address, which is pre-added to the whitelist in the proxy service control panel. In this case, there is no need to use a username and password, as access is granted automatically when the IP address is matched.

Both methods provide security and access control, depending on the user’s needs and preferences.

What is a shared proxy?

A shared proxy (also known as a shared proxy server) is a proxy server whose IP address is used by multiple users simultaneously. This type of proxy is usually available at a lower price or for free, but it has certain characteristics that are important to consider.

Key features of a general proxy:

  1. Sharing:
    • The same proxy IP address can be used by several users simultaneously. This reduces the cost of the service, as server resources are shared among many clients.
  2. Security:
    • Security may be compromised, as multiple users can share the same IP address. This increases the risk of the IP address being blocked due to the actions of other users.
  3. Performance:
    • Connection speed and stability may suffer due to high server load, as multiple users may simultaneously use the proxy for different tasks, creating competition for resources.
  4. Risk of blocking:
    • Since a shared proxy is used by multiple users for various tasks—often simultaneously—its IP address is more likely to be detected and blocked by online resources.
  5. Accessibility:
    • Shared proxies are often more affordable and can be useful for tasks that do not require a high level of security.

Advantages of a shared proxy:

  • Low cost: Public proxy servers are usually cheaper or even free, as resources are shared among many users.
  • Accessibility: They are easily accessible and can be useful for simple tasks, such as web browsing or superficial testing.

Disadvantages of a shared proxy:

  • Risk of blocking: If suspicious activity is detected from one of the users, the proxy IP address may be blocked, affecting all other users.
  • Low performance: Due to resource sharing, connection speeds may be slow, especially during peak hours.
  • Reduced security: Since multiple users have access to the same IP address, the level of security and privacy is reduced.

Using a general proxy:

  • Web browsing: Public proxies are suitable for web surfing when high speed or security is not required.
  • Testing: They can be used to test certain websites or services, especially if high reliability is not required.
  • Handling geo-dependent tasks: such as verifying website localization, testing ad display in a specific region, or monitoring SEO search results for a particular country. However, success is not guaranteed due to potential blocking.
Can I replace the proxy during the paid period?

Yes, you can. Proxyma allows you to replace your proxy in case of malfunctions or other problems. We always try to accommodate our users.

If you have any further questions, please contact our support team and we will offer you a customized solution depending on your situation.

Can I purchase proxies from other countries?

Yes, you can purchase proxy servers from various countries on the Proxyma.io website. This service provides access to proxies with IP addresses from different geographic regions, allowing you to select IP addresses based on your needs — for example, to test content in specific countries.

To select a proxy from a specific country or region, you need to specify this in your personal account under the proxy settings. This is typically done via the proxy generator interface, which becomes available after purchasing proxies.

If you have specific requirements for a country or region, we recommend contacting Proxyma.io support for details and available options.

Can I extend the proxy rental period?

Yes, you can extend your proxy rental period on the Proxyma.io website. 8. Check the information you have entered and confirm the payment. You may need to complete an additional verification step (e.g., entering a code from an SMS or confirming via a banking app).
What to do if IP addresses change quickly/frequent rotation?

If your IP address changes frequently while connected to the proxy, it means you have purchased a plan from the “Dynamic Residential Proxy” line. If your tasks require a permanent (static) IP address, we recommend switching to the “ISP Proxy” line. Alternatively, you can adjust the rotation settings in the proxy generator; the default duration might be sufficient for your needs.

Can I change my IP address via the link?

The IP can be changed by regenerating the proxy settings or by replacing the necessary available parameters in the proxy link.

Which devices’ IP addresses can be checked?

What should I do if the IP address I set is different from the one displayed?

If the IP address you see is different from the one shown, it could mean there’s a problem with your proxy or VPN settings, or there’s a conflict with other network configurations on your device. Here are a few steps you can take to fix this:

1. Restarting the device and network equipment

Restart your computer, router, and any network devices. This may help refresh network settings and resolve temporary conflicts.

2. Clearing the DNS cache

  • Sometimes old DNS entries can cause problems with displaying IP addresses. Try clearing your DNS cache:
    • On Windows: Open the command prompt and enter ipconfig /flushdns.
    • On macOS and Linux: Open Terminal and run the command sudo dscacheutil -flushcache (for macOS) or sudo systemd-resolve –flush-caches (for Linux).

3. Checking for IP leaks

Sometimes, even when connected via a proxy or VPN, your real IP address can “leak” through WebRTC, DNS, or other mechanisms. Check for IP leaks using special online tests such as ipleak.net.

4. Checking browser settings

  • If you are using a proxy through your browser, ensure that its settings do not conflict with your system settings. Disable any extensions that may interfere with network performance.

5. Checking the firewall and antivirus software

  • Ensure that your firewall or antivirus software is not blocking or altering network connections, which could result in different IP addresses.

6. Proxy support connection

If the problem persists, contact support at https://t.me/Proxyma_Support. They can check whether their server is working properly and help with the settings.

What types of connections do you have?

Depending on your needs, you can choose one of these proxy types. HTTPS proxies are suitable for secure web browsing, while SOCKS5 proxies are better suited for more complex tasks that require flexibility and speed.

HTTPS Proxy

HTTPS (Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure) is an enhanced version of HTTP that provides secure data transmission between the client (e.g., a browser) and the server using SSL/TLS encryption.

HTTPS proxy:

  • Working with web content: HTTPS proxies are used to handle HTTP and HTTPS requests, making them useful for working with websites and web applications.
  • Data encryption: This type of proxy server encrypts all traffic, making it ideal for protecting confidential information when transmitted over the Internet.
  • IP Address Replacement: An HTTPS proxy replaces your outgoing IP address with the proxy server’s IP address; this ensures smooth operation with services that limit the number of requests from a single address and reduces the risk of being blocked during automated data collection.
  • Content filtering: These proxies can block or allow access to certain websites, making them useful for corporate use.
SOCKS5 Proxy

SOCKS5 is a more versatile protocol that can work with any type of traffic, whether it be HTTP, FTP, SMTP, or even P2P.

SOCKS5 proxy:

  • Multifunctionality: SOCKS5 is not limited to web traffic; it can handle any data, including games, torrents, and messaging programs.
  • UDP support: Unlike previous versions, SOCKS5 supports both TCP and UDP protocols, making it more flexible.
  • Higher speed: Since SOCKS5 operates at a lower level, it does not encrypt data, which can improve connection speed. However, this also means that traffic is not as secure as it is with HTTPS.
  • Authentication: SOCKS5 supports various authentication methods, which increases connection security.
Will it be possible to extend the tariff plan for the future with my configured proxies?

Yes, of course, our project architecture ensures that the next tariff plan will retain your settings and you will not need to change anything in the anti-detection browser.

In your account, you can set the parameter to change the IP address on request when generating each proxy list. If you are unsure how to use this feature, please contact our manager at https://t.me/Proxyma_Support.

What should I do if the country of the displayed proxy is incorrect?

If the country associated with the displayed proxy server is identified incorrectly, this can affect the accuracy of geo-dependent tasks—such as verifying website localization, testing ad display in a specific region, or monitoring SEO search results for a particular country. Here are a few steps you can take to resolve this issue:

Use several services to determine the location of your IP address. Some of them may show different results due to differences in geolocation databases. Popular services:

Sometimes services simply misidentify the country. You can manually check the IP address ranges to understand which country it actually belongs to.

If the problem persists after completing these steps, you may want to consider using a different service to change your IP address and country.

Can I check my current IP after changing it?

Yes. After connecting a proxy or changing your IP address, you can check which address is currently in use—this is standard practice for verifying that the setup is correct.

To verify, it is sufficient to:

  1. Configure the proxy in the browser, application, or script according to the instructions.
  2. Go to any IP-checking service (for example, our built-in checker in the user dashboard or third-party sites like “my ip” or “what is my ip”).
  3. Compare the displayed IP address and geolocation with the parameters of the proxy assigned to you in your personal account—they must match.

This is useful to ensure that:

  • the proxy is indeed connected and traffic is flowing through it, rather than directly;
  • IP geolocation matches the required region (important for SEO monitoring, localization testing, and geo-targeted advertising);
  • Upon an IP change (for services with rotation), the address was indeed updated.

If your real IP is displayed after the check, or the address does not change during rotation, we recommend checking your connection settings or contacting support.

How can you tell IPv4 from IPv6?

Length: IPv4 addresses are shorter (usually 12 characters, including dots), while IPv6 addresses are longer (up to 39 characters, including colons).

Characters: IPv4 uses only numbers and dots, while IPv6 also includes letters (A-F) and colons.

Examples:

  • IPv4: 192.168.1.1
  • IPv6: 2001:0db8:85a3:0000:0000:8a2e:0370:7334 or 2001:db8::8a2e:370:7334
Is my IP address stored on my computer?

No, the IP address of a residential proxy is not stored on your computer. When you purchase and use a proxy, your computer connects to a proxy server, which redirects your internet traffic through its IP address. This IP address belongs to the proxy server, not your computer.

Your computer only stores proxy connection settings that allow it to send traffic through a proxy server. The proxy server’s IP address itself is not stored on your device as part of its configuration. Instead, each time you make a request, your computer uses the specified proxy IP address to access the internet, hiding your real IP address from the websites and services you interact with.

What is a proxy in simple terms?

A proxy is an intermediary between your device and the internet. When you use a proxy, your internet traffic first passes through this intermediary, which then forwards it on. As a result, websites and services see the IP address of the proxy server rather than your real IP address.

Imagine you want to send a letter, but you don’t want the recipient to know your real address. You send the letter through a friend, who forwards it on their behalf. The recipient sees your friend’s address, not yours. In this case, your friend is a proxy.

Why are proxies needed and what problems do they solve?

1. SEO monitoring and search results analysis

Rank tracking and SERP analysis: proxies with IP addresses from various regions enable you to retrieve actual search engine results for specific locations—essential for accurately tracking website rankings and analyzing competitors across different countries and cities.

Data scraping without hitting limits: distributing requests across a large pool of IP addresses enables the stable collection of public data (competitor prices, product ranges, industry statistics) without running into request limits associated with a single address.

2. Testing geo-dependent content and localization

Checking website display across different regions: proxies with IP addresses from the target country allow you to verify how a website, app, or advertising campaign appears to users in different countries—this is crucial for QA of localized product versions and for verifying the accuracy of geo-targeting.

Service availability monitoring: ensures that your website or service performs consistently for users across different geographic locations.

3. Advertising and ad verification

Ad display verification: Proxies are used by advertising agencies and brands to verify that ads are displaying correctly across different regions, devices, and platforms, as well as to detect ad fraud and off-target ad delivery.

4. Marketing research and market analysis

Competitor monitoring: collecting publicly available data on competitors’ prices, product ranges, and positioning across various regional markets—without the risk of IP address blocking during large-scale data collection.

Agency management of multiple client projects: SMM and marketing agencies managing several client brands simultaneously use proxies to separate network environments between projects—in line with platform recommendations regarding access segregation for different accounts and teams.

3. Security and traffic filtering

Unwanted content filtering: in a corporate environment, proxies are used to restrict employee access to specific categories of websites.

Basic traffic filtering: part of the proxy infrastructure supports filtering of suspicious requests in corporate scenarios (this does not replace specialized antivirus solutions).

6. Traffic acceleration and optimization

Data caching: a proxy can store copies of frequently requested web pages and resources, speeding up subsequent loads.

Traffic optimization: data compression and the removal of unnecessary page elements reduce load times and data consumption. This is important for marketers, researchers, and analysts.

What are residential proxies?

Resident proxies are proxy servers that use IP addresses provided by Internet service providers (ISPs) and/or are located on real (resident) devices such as laptops, desktop computers, smartphones, and so on.

Unlike server proxies, residential proxies are considered more reliable and more secure against tracking. The residential proxy market has a large number of IP addresses available in thousands of locations around the globe, which makes it impossible to block them. Another advantage of residential proxies is that they can have multiple IP addresses at once, allowing you to automatically deploy hundreds of connections from a single location.

How can I tell if the proxy is working?

You can always find out if you are using a proxy by checking your IP address. If your IP address is different from before, then you have successfully set up a proxy on your iPhone. Just type “what’s my IP address” into a search engine, and you will see several websites that instantly read and display your IP address.

In Windows, you can quickly check your proxy by clicking Start, then Run, typing “cmd,” and clicking OK. At the command prompt, type “netsh winhttp show proxy,” and then press ENTER. Your proxy settings will appear shortly.

In Google Chrome, you can easily check your proxy server and firewall settings by following these steps:

  1. Open Google Chrome, then click on the Menu icon.
  2. Go to the Settings section.
  3. Scroll down and select Show advanced settings….
  4. On the Network tab, click Change proxy settings.

This will open the Windows Internet Options window. Go to the Connections LAN Settings to check the details.

Proxies aren’t working, what should I do?

1. Check whether our package or account balance has expired.

2. Check whether antivirus software, a firewall, or other personal security tools are blocking the ports used to connect to the proxy.

3. Wait for a while. If the problem occurred during task execution, the service will remain in standby mode and check the proxies every 5 minutes until they are restored to working order.

If you see from the logs that this has not been happening for a very long time, then there is probably no point in waiting—it is better to stop the task and investigate further, as the proxy may have been blocked.

4. Try reconnecting from another proxy in a similar address range.

The site has blocked the proxy, what should I do?

1. Update your web browser to the latest version or reinstall it. If there is no connection to the proxy server, your browser version may be outdated. After installation, you will need to reconfigure the proxy connection.

2. Check the proxy settings in your browser. It is likely that the user previously made changes that led to a connection error.

3. Clear your cache. This is the easiest way to fix your proxy server. To do this, go to your browser history. You can do this via the menu or by pressing Ctrl + H. Select a time range; for best results, we recommend setting the period to “All time.”

4. Check for malware using antivirus software. It is not recommended to run a scan using an application that is already installed on the device. There are many free programs available online that can detect threats.

5. Disable proxy software. To verify that it is the proxy server that is blocking the transfer, check your network access without using a proxy.

6. Clear the database in the system registry.

Can I access illegal websites through your proxies?

No. Using the service to access illegal content or engage in unlawful activity is prohibited by our Terms of Use. We maintain up-to-date blacklists of resources and website categories that are restricted when accessed via our proxies. If we detect suspicious or illegal activity, we reserve the right to unilaterally suspend or permanently terminate the user’s access to the service without prior notice.

Our proxies are obtained through ethical and legal means, and the company’s entire operation is based on a transparent and open usage policy.

What is the speed of your proxies?

The bandwidth of each channel may vary. It is typically up to 100 Mbps. The final speed depends on network traffic.

For unlimited proxies, speeds (bandwidth) range from 200 Mbps to 1000 Mbps, depending on the pricing plan.

How many parallel streams/connections can I use with your proxies?

ISP proxy: 1 stream per 1 proxy

Resident proxies: unlimited number of streams

Mobile proxies: unlimited number of streams

Unlimited proxies: single-threaded

Do you have rules for using your proxies and service?

Yes. The terms of use for the service are specified here.

What is the difference between IPv4 and IPv6 proxies? Which one is better?

The difference between IPv4 and IPv6 proxies is related to the version of the Internet Protocol they use. Both types of protocols perform a similar task—they provide unique IP addresses for devices on the network—but they differ in structure, the number of available addresses, and support.

Key differences between IPv4 and IPv6 proxies:

  1. Address space:
    • IPv4: IPv4 addresses consist of 32 bits and are written as four groups of numbers separated by dots (e.g., 192.168.0.1). This allows for the creation of approximately 4.3 billion unique addresses, which is no longer sufficient due to the large number of devices on the network.
    • IPv6: IPv6 addresses consist of 128 bits and are written as eight groups of hexadecimal numbers separated by colons (e.g., 2001:0db8:85a3:0000:0000:8a2e:0370:7334) . This allows for a huge number of unique addresses (about 340 undecillion), which effectively solves the problem of IP address shortage.
  2. Support and compatibility:
    • IPv4: Widely supported by all devices and Internet services. Virtually the entire Internet is based on IPv4, so using these proxies guarantees compatibility with most websites and services.
    • IPv6: Although IPv6 is gradually being implemented, not all websites and services fully support this protocol. This may lead to incompatibility and the inability to access certain resources when using an IPv6 proxy.
  3. Speed and efficiency:
    • IPv4: In some cases, IPv4 proxies may be slower due to the need to use NAT (Network Address Translation) to connect multiple devices from a single IP address, which creates additional network load.
    • IPv6: IPv6 proxies can be more efficient, as each user can have a unique IP address without the need for NAT, which reduces latency and improves network performance.
  4. Price and availability:
    • IPv4: Due to the limited number of IPv4 addresses, their cost may be higher, especially for residential proxies.

IPv6: IPv6 addresses are much more accessible and cheaper due to their vast number, making them an attractive option for many users.

What is the difference between HTTP(s) and SOCKS (4 and 5) protocols? Which one is better?

HTTP(S) and SOCKS (versions 4 and 5) are different types of proxy protocols used for data transfer between a client (your device) and a server (an internet resource). They have distinct functionalities and are designed for various purposes. Let’s examine their differences and use cases.

1. HTTP(S) Proxies:

Description:

  • HTTP: A protocol used for transferring hypertext data (web pages) over the internet. An HTTP proxy operates at the application layer and is designed to handle web requests.
  • HTTPS: This is a version of HTTP with encryption (SSL/TLS) that protects data from interception.

Key Features:

  • Request Tunneling: An HTTP proxy forwards client requests to a web server and returns the received response. It can cache pages, filter content, and modify request headers.
  • Web Content Handling: An HTTP proxy is suitable for working with websites and supports cookies, authentication, and other web functionalities.
  • HTTPS Support: Allows for encryption, ensuring the protection of data transmitted between the client and server.

Advantages:

  • Optimal for working with websites and web applications.
  • Supports encryption when working with HTTPS.
  • Can filter and modify web content.

Limitations:

  • Supports only web traffic (HTTP/HTTPS), making it unsuitable for other types of traffic such as email or gaming.

2. SOCKS Proxies (versions 4 and 5):

Description:

  • SOCKS 4: A basic version of the protocol that operates at the transport layer and supports TCP traffic transfer.
  • SOCKS 5: An extended version that supports both TCP and UDP traffic, as well as authentication and working with proxies behind NAT.

Key Features:

  • Flexibility: A SOCKS proxy can transfer any type of traffic (e.g., email, FTP, games), not just HTTP/HTTPS. It operates at a lower level than an HTTP proxy and can be used with any applications that support this protocol.
  • Anonymity: A SOCKS proxy does not process requests at the application layer and does not modify data, which makes it more anonymous.
  • Support for Various Protocols: SOCKS 5 supports both TCP and UDP, making it more versatile compared to SOCKS 4.

Advantages:

  • Suitable for all types of traffic, including HTTP, FTP, P2P, gaming, etc.
  • SOCKS 5 offers greater flexibility due to its support for authentication and encryption.
  • It offers better security, as it does not interfere with the data.

Limitations:

  • Does not support filtering and modification of web content like an HTTP proxy.
  • Typically does not cache web pages or speed up access to them.

Which one is better?

The choice of protocol depends on your needs:

  • HTTP(S) proxy: Best suited if your primary task is working with websites and web applications. It allows you to filter and modify web content and supports encryption via HTTPS.
  • SOCKS (especially SOCKS 5) proxies: Best suited if you need to handle various types of traffic (e.g., for gaming, P2P networks, FTP, etc.). SOCKS 5 also offers superior security and flexibility thanks to its support for various protocols and authentication methods.
What is a public/free proxy?

Public or free proxies are an accessible solution, though they are less reliable and secure than paid proxies. They may be suitable for simple tasks that do not require high stability; however, for more demanding tasks, it is better to use paid, private proxy services that offer high speeds, reliability, and data protection.

Key risks and limitations:

  • Low security: Public proxies can expose you to the risk of data interception, especially if you are transmitting sensitive information such as passwords or credit card numbers.
  • Low performance: Due to congestion, the connection may be slow and unstable.
  • Uncertainty of operation: There is no guarantee that the proxy will operate for a long time or stably.
What is a packet proxy?

A proxy package (also known as a proxy pool) is a service that provides access to a large number of proxy servers within a single package. This is convenient for tasks requiring multiple simultaneous connections to online resources, such as public data scraping, SEO monitoring of search results, competitor analysis, ad verification, or testing geo-specific websites and applications.

Proxy packages are an effective solution for users who need to work with a large number of IP addresses simultaneously. They provide flexibility, speed, and stability when handling large-scale, high-volume request tasks, all while keeping infrastructure costs optimal.

What is a private/ individual/ exclusive/ elite/ dedicated proxy?

Private, individual, exclusive, elite, and dedicated proxies are terms often used to describe the same type of proxy server, which is intended for use by only one user or organization.

Advantages:

  • No congestion: Since the IP address is used by only one user, there is no risk of slow performance due to a large number of connections.
  • Stability and low IP-blocking rates: since private proxies are not used by multiple users simultaneously, the IP address retains a clean reputation for longer, reducing the frequency of CAPTCHAs and temporary restrictions during scraping and SEO monitoring.
  • Personalized settings: Private proxies can be customized according to user needs.

Disadvantages:

  • Cost: Private proxies are usually more expensive than public ones, as they provide a higher level of service and reliability.
  • Need for support: Depending on the provider, support may be required for configuration or troubleshooting.

Private, dedicated, or exclusive proxies offer a reliable solution for users requiring high performance and stability for tasks such as SEO monitoring, public data scraping, and ad analytics. They are suitable for a wide range of applications — from workflow automation to the secure testing of geo-specific services.

How can I find out how many proxy subnets I have?

To find out how many proxy subnets you have after purchasing them, you need to follow a few steps. A subnet is a group of IP addresses that are in the same range and use a common prefix. Here’s how you can do it:

Use commands in the command line

If you have access to proxy IP addresses, you can use the command line to check. Here are some commands that may help:

Ping: You can check which IP addresses respond in a given subnet.
bash
Copy code

ping
  • Traceroute: This can help determine which routes data takes through proxies.
    bash
    Copy code
traceroute

Identify the subnet by IP address

If you have proxy IP addresses, you can determine their subnets. To do this:

  1. Determine the subnet mask. Typically, this is 255.255.255.0 for class C subnets, 255.255.0.0 for class B, and so on.
  2. Use subnet calculators or commands such as ipcalc to determine how many addresses are in a given subnet.

Use network analysis tools

There are tools and programs that can help you analyze your network and subnets, such as:

  • Nmap: A powerful network scanning tool that can help identify active devices and their subnets.
  • Wireshark: A network analyzer that can display information about packets and network connections.

Example of subnet definition

If you have an IP address range, for example, 192.168.1.0/24, this means that you have 256 addresses (from 192.168.1.0 to 192.168.1.255) in this subnet. You can use these addresses for proxies.

What are residential proxies?

Residential proxies are IP addresses provided by providers to regular users, which makes them reliable and protected from detection. In fact, this technology masks the end user as a user from another country.

How do residential proxies work?

A resident proxy server routes your internet traffic through an intermediary server. The proxy server assigns you an alternative IP address through which all your requests to the server are routed. There are static and rotating proxies.

What are rotating residential proxies?

Rotating residential proxies enable companies to collect competitor data on a large scale in order to instantly update market prices. This helps companies maintain competitive prices relative to all competitors simultaneously.

What are the advantages of using residential proxies?

Large pool of proxy addresses – large providers have millions of IP addresses, so you can make a huge number of requests without repeating the same IP twice. This gives you two more advantages: Multiple locations – these IP addresses are usually scattered around the world.

Who needs residential proxies?

Marketers and SEO specialists: They use residential proxies for data parsing, tracking search engine rankings, and analyzing competitors.

E-commerce companies: Use proxies to monitor prices for goods and services in order to remain competitive.

Security specialists: Use proxies to check for vulnerabilities, protect against DDoS attacks, and test web applications.

Data researchers and analysts: Use residential proxies to collect large amounts of data, conduct research, and analyze trends.

SMM and content managers: Use proxies to manage multiple social media accounts, automate posting, and collect statistics.

Programmers and developers: Use proxies to test applications and services—verifying the behavior of geo-specific content, interface localization, and website accessibility from different regions of the world.

Analytical companies: Use proxies to collect data on consumer preferences and analyze supply and demand in various markets.

Advertising and PR agents: Use residential proxies to conduct advertising campaigns, analyze advertising effectiveness, and check regional differences in ad impressions.

What should you pay attention to before buying residential proxies?

Source and legality of IP addresses:

  • Ensure that the proxy service offers legitimate and ethical residential IP addresses. Some providers may use IP addresses of questionable origin, which may result in blocking.

Geographical location of IP:

  • It is important to understand which countries and regions the offered IP addresses are located in. If you need proxies for a specific country, make sure that the provider offers IP addresses in that region.

Connection speed and stability:

  • Check the speed and stability of your connection when using a proxy. Low speed can significantly slow down task execution, and an unstable connection can lead to failures.

Number and rotation of IP addresses:

  • Find out how many IP addresses are provided and how often they rotate. The automatic IP address rotation feature can be useful for certain tasks, such as data parsing or managing multiple accounts.

Reliability and data protection:

  • Pay attention to how the proxy service ensures the privacy and security of transmitted data. A high-quality service employs secure connections (HTTPS or encrypted SOCKS5) and does not retain activity logs longer than necessary—a crucial factor when handling sensitive business data, such as during SERP scraping or competitor price monitoring.

Compatibility with necessary services and applications:

  • Ensure that the proxies are compatible with the tools you plan to use (e.g., browsers, parsing programs, social networks, etc.).

Technical support and reviews:

  • Read reviews about the service and check how quickly the support team responds. This is especially important if you encounter technical problems or have questions.

Pricing policy:

  • Compare prices from different providers and find out what services are included in the price. Some services may offer discounts for long-term subscriptions or when purchasing a large number of IP addresses.

Refund Policy:

  • Ensure that the provider has a clear refund policy in case the proxy does not meet your expectations.
Can I use residential proxies for Steam?

Residential proxies are primarily used with Steam for QA and marketing analytics tasks: verifying the display of the store, pricing, and content localization across different regions from the perspective of game developers and publishers, as well as monitoring competitor listings on the platform.
It is crucial to use proxies in strict compliance with Steam’s Terms of Service. The platform monitors for ToS violations, and any actions aimed at manipulating account regions or payment processes can lead to account access restrictions. We recommend using proxies solely for legitimate scenarios permitted by the platform’s policies.

What is an ISP proxy?

ISP proxy servers are also known as static residential proxies. They are real residential IP addresses that are reserved for a single user and do not change.

ISP proxy servers are purchased from Internet service providers. These are residential proxies that appear to be home proxies, but are actually located on servers routed through ISP networks. This gives you all the benefits of a super-fast connection and a private residential IP address that is not shared with anyone else.

What is the advantage of an ISP proxy?

You gain access to information via a genuine residential IP address reserved exclusively for you. Use ISP proxies to verify search engine results, scrape public data (such as for market research or price monitoring), and scale marketing campaigns. They also ensure high connection speeds and stability, enabling you to test geo-specific websites and applications.

Who needs ISP proxies?

For users requiring stable access to web resources without triggering anti-fraud system false positives—for example, when making frequent requests from a single IP (such as for price monitoring, SEO analysis, or website testing).

For users requiring stable access to web resources without triggering anti-fraud system false positives—for example, when making frequent requests from a single IP (such as for price monitoring, SEO analysis, or website testing).

For companies that manage corporate traffic: configuring unwanted content filtering, restricting access to entertainment sites during work hours, and analyzing employee internet usage.

What is the difference between residential proxies and ISP proxies?

Residential proxy servers use IP addresses that belong to real users and their devices (e.g., home computers, smartphones). These IP addresses are registered to physical addresses and assigned by internet service providers to regular users.

ISP IP addresses: ISP proxy servers use IP addresses that are officially allocated by ISPs, but are controlled directly by the proxy provider rather than by end users.
